Steve Harvey is NOT a Christian

When I was around twelve, I first saw Steve Harvey hosting Family Feud. As a comedian, Steve Harvey was and still is funny. But as an influencer, Steve Harvey needs to go.

I study Islam. I study it a lot. For the past four, coming on five years, I have studied Islam and have come to a very different conclusion than what Steve Harvey has spoken on Islam. Perhaps he is only ignorant on the matter, but if he truly is a Christian as claimed, he wouldn’t fall for such trivial statements.

Let’s follow the path Steve Harvey is taking:

Steve Harvey, like many other ‘Christians’, are celebrity sell-outs. They aren’t followers of Christ but followers of their fan-base. They must stay relevant, they must not offend, they must always compromise. That is not being a Christian.

While radical Christians died for their beliefs, these other ones are religiously fluid. They philosophize God. Sure, God is one, but is He this one, that one, or all one?

Jews believe in the same God as Christians, but Christians believe in the revealed God who is hidden in Christ. Followers of Muhammad do not. They reject God and God in Christ for their own Arabic god. God doesn’t have an ethnicity, He’s a Spirit. *

Unfortunately, people love people like steve Harvey because they agree, at least in part, with their religion. This seems to back up their views are ‘correct’ even if they are not. Many ‘great’ leaders have believed in no god, why doesn’t that make all the atheists right?

Anyone that professes Christ and then suddenly turns around and says all religions are right if they work for you, is not a Christian. He’s a sell-out to his money, to his fans, to his principles (the very definition of a person that is a sell-out).

If all religions are 100% correct as long as you believe in it, then Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny are real too. If Islam is 100% correct, then Christianity is wrong, Jesus, John, and the rest are not needed, and Steve Harvey’s own beliefs are wrong. In fact, if Islam is 100% correct, then we need to institute slavery and apostate killing.

So no, Mr. Harvey, read the Qur’an, the Hadiths, and the Sira. Just because someone says their religion is the religion of peace does not make it the religion of peace. Christianity for centuries was the religion of peace. Why has it lost its title, being stolen by Islam? The first Arab Christians were also called Muslims before Islam stole that away from them and shamed them, exiled them, enslaved them, or killed them.

Mr. Harvey, read history. Armenian Genocide, Hitlerism, the Crusades, etc. Mr. Harvey will lead millions to hell because he is ashamed of Christ, too afraid of offending, and afraid of being rejected.

It seems that Mr. Harvey has rejected his Creator by rejecting Christ, God hidden in the flesh. If there is only one God, but there are two different claims to this one God, then they cannot both be the same God, one must be false and the other must be true.

Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. [23] Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

1 John 2:22-23 NKJV

If Islam is 100% correct and Mr. Harvey agrees with it, then he is of the antichrist. Why? Islam rejects the Son of God and makes all the prophets sons of God. Islam rejects Jesus’ claim of having the Father in the Son (being unique, only begotten). Islam rejects the Torah and the Gospels (all which are historical documents) and recreates them in the Qur’an (no evidence or historicity).

We cannot live by the rule “it works for you, it is right” because while it may not affect you presently, it will later on. And if it doesn’t affect you, it will affect someone else. How many Christians, gays, and ex-followers of Muhammad has Islam affected? Steve Harvey, answer those questions.

*I’ve added this footnote to clarify some things. Perhaps Some Muslims believe in the same God as the Jews and Christians, though I must admit, holding a shallower understanding of Him. But for those so offended I said this, let me ask you. If a Muslim claims that God is an Arabic God, is he wrong? If a Muslim claims that Arabic is the true language of God, is he wrong? And if a Muslim claims that there are many paths to heaven, is he wrong? I have met Muslims that claimed these very things. So before you say, “you don’t know anything about islam because we (you) don’t believe those,” you might want to ask, am I speaking for you or for those who claim that? If I’m not speaking about you, maybe try commenting that while you don’t believe that, any Muslim that would claim that is wrong according to whatever it is you believe in.

This article has wrong information about Muslims God. Muslims believe that there is only one God. He begets nor was he begotten. And there’s nothing comparable to him. He’s not an Arabic God. Please never talk about a religion that you’re not familiar with as you can come across offensive.

    • I’ve actually met Muslims who demanded that God was a Arabic God. That Arabic was His true language, and that Arabic lifestyle was the way God lived via the Quran. Those people were who I was targeting.

      • what happened to christians saying jesus is god? why are u guys so confusing. u guys praise jesus more than god himself. “JEsUS LoVeS YoU” why can’t u just say god loves you? also if jesus is taking ur sins doesn’t that mean he is degrading himself to eternity of pain? and stop spreading false info about Islam. the religion is way more peaceful and more dedicated than the normal “christians” these days.

        • Your comment comes off a little confusing. If Jesus is God, then praising Jesus is praising God. To say “Jesus loves you” is to say God loves you. That is if we continue with the line that “Jesus is God”. And God loves you! That’s doesn’t negate the fact that God in Christ came to reconcile the world, along with you and I, unto Himself. Why would you say Jesus degrades himself to an eternity of pain? How so? He is not the sinner, we are. He took our place and suffered for us, our failings. When did that ever become an “eternity of pain”? And before you switch over to defending Islam, have you read the Qur’an, Hadith, and Sira? Or are you basing the religion on Muslims around you? It seems you are biased in your opinion, as you take issue with “normal Christians” and are speaking of religion by the action of its supposed followers and not the materials the followers claim to believe/uphold.

  2. What you said about studying Islam is either false or you are reading & watching the wrong things.

    • I actually studied in Egypt, read the Qur’an and Sunnah of Muhammad. Those, along with books from various scholars around the world, are what I’ve read and listened to before forming any opinion on Islam.

      • Jews’ God and Christians’ god is not the same. Jews believe in one and only God, not three in one god. Your post shows that your knowledge about Islam is zero.

        • You said:

(A.) Jews’ God is not the same as the Christian God.

Any evidence to support that claim?

(B.) I show zero knowledge about Islam.

Any evidence to support that claim as well? In reality, you show a lack of ignorance in both history and theology. The first and early Christians were, in fact, Jewish. Thus, at a basic level, you show zero knowledge on Judaism and Christianity. That’s only because you tried bringing it up without any sources backing your claim.

  3. steve harvey found the truth. It sad some christians are so lost in their own stupidity to fail to release life is bigger than christianity

    • Steve Harvey – talks about the Son of God (Jesus), then states that there are many paths to heaven and you follow what you want. And that’s the truth to you

  4. Dear Ethan,

I recently happened upon your blog post titled “Steve Harvey is not a Christian,” and had a point or two to raise with you. Now, just so you know where I’m coming from, I am from a family that is on one side Episcopalian and on the other side Society of Friends (Quakers). My family on both sides were highly educated and quite religious and read scriptures and tried to understand them in light of human experience, scientific revelation and historical research.

My mother, during what I have now come to understand as a midlife crisis, left the Episcopal church, in which I had been raised, and brought me along with her to a more “fundamentalist,” so-called charismatic church, and this was shortly before I was to have received the sacrament of confirmation in the Episcopal church.

In the new church, everything I experienced was quite a shock. The nonsense babble of people who pretended to be speaking in tongues, the complete disorder of the services, and more than anything, the absolute ignorance of the people purporting to preach the gospel. Once in that “church,” a renowned evangelist came to speak. I’m sure you’d know his name. In the course of his rant, he mentioned how the Buddha had also promulgated a principle similar to the Golden Rule as it appears in Matthew 7:12 and went on to say that the Buddha was obviously taking this from Jesus. Now, never mind that this principle first appears (in a Jewish context) in Leviticus, it’s impossible that the Buddha, who was born in 563 BC (before Christ) was copying someone who wouldn’t be born for over 500 years. When I mentioned this discrepancy to someone there, and my own mother, I was told to shut up, and that I knew nothing compared to the man speaking. I did, however, know for sure that what he was saying was historically incorrect and as such, either he was an ignoramus or a liar, but in any event, his being able to carry on as he did depended entirely on the relative lack of education of his audience.

Now, you may be wondering how this has to do with you. As I was growing up, my best friend was a Muslim. I became quite close with his grandfather, a man who was a devout Muslim, but who sought and valued the commonality in all faiths, and who taught me to evaluate anything anyone said about religion or human morality with a critical view.

Since then, I’ve left Christianity and have for most of my adult life been an Orthodox Jew, as I am today. As such, I can assure you of a few things of which you may be unaware.

First, from a Jewish viewpoint, both Christianity and Islam are problematic in terms of the heretical stances they take. However, of the two religions, Christianity is by far the more problematic.

You say that you’ve read the Qu’ran and as such, you say that the God of Islam is not the same god worshiped by Jews and Christians. If this is what you say, you obviously have not read the Qu’ran, which makes it clear that the deity to whom Muhammad refers is, without a doubt, the very same God of Abraham. I suspect you may have read some books about Islam written by people who either didn’t know better or who simply lied because they knew nobody was going to check them on this, but again, I do not believe you have actually read the Qu’ran.

At this point, I have no skin in the game as far as Christianity is concerned, but I think it’s important for people such as you who play at apologetics to realize that lying or misrepresentation doesn’t help your argument, and is, in fact, the sort of thing that drives people who understand and value intellectual honesty away from your religion.

Lying about other religions to make your own look better isn’t a good way to make any points in the long run, and besides, God doesn’t like lying, no matter what religion you are.

    Sincerely,

    Charles Smith

    • Charles,

Where have I lied? Certainly not all who claim to follow God follow the right God. Islam, like ay religion, has many different denominations. “Jews believe in the same God as Christians, but Christians believe in the revealed God who is hidden in Christ. Followers of Muhammad do not. They reject God and God in Christ for their own Arabic god. God doesn’t have an ethnicity, He’s a Spirit.” I believe you are referring to this comment. You see, I have met several Muslims who claim God is an Arabic God. Now, I have also met other Muslims who say God is a universal God, but originally the God of the Hebrews. Perhaps you have a view that goes along with your Muslim friends, however, you might try understanding that I deal with Muslims from all over the world, primarily North Africa, who seem to hold various interpretations. So my comments, while perhaps misrepresenting some islamic views, did not misrepresent all Islamic views. This article was written somewhat sloppily and left out that detail. Just as not all Jews may agree with you and vice versa, not all Muslims agree on the same issues. I generalized Muslims in this article, and should’ve made mention that I do believe many Muslims are believing in the same God as the rest of us. But I don’t believe all do.

      • Ethan Toney,

You are a total ignorant and a dangerous individual who spread hate towards a religious community. You should be sued and charged for hate speech.

For anyone who is truly looking to know the truth about any religion please go to the source get the book the holy Quran and read it yourself, listen to some knowledgeable Muslim scholars such as Yusuf Estes who was a Christian minister before converting to Islam. Also you can watch the The deen show.
If there are 2 billion Muslims in the world is for a reason and the number is growing fast for a reason too, I would say that the mean reason is that Christianity does not follow the scriptures anymore even the Pope himself says things that are in complete contradiction with the old testament and the new testament, Christians are today complete mislead by so called reformists.

Also, Allah means God in Arabic, Arab Christians say Allah too. We worship God almighty, we believe that Jesus peace be upon him was a prophet, we believe in the old testament and the new testament, and we believe that Mohamed was a prophet, a messager of God, the last prophet. And we believe that Jesus peace be upon him will return.

May God almighty bless you all, Ameen.

    • It is so wrong what is been published here. As a Muslim I must correct this. Islam did not rejected Jesus neither the Torah nor the Bible. If you read the Qur’an the Torah was sent first by God then the Bible and the final message was the Qur’an. Jesus was not rejected by islam. God Has honoured Jesus. He was one of the most important Prophets and the only thing that islam says is that he was not killed in a cross like Christians claim. Jesus was saved by God and brought it to Him

      • Firstly, you as a Muslim are attempting to explain what Islam teaches. So, I will only provide an argument against yours with teachings from a majority of Muslims.

Islam did not rejected Jesus neither the Torah nor the Bible.

(1.) Islam, according to Muslims, teaches that Ishmael, not Isaac, was to be sacrificed. Therefore, Muslims reject the Torah. If Islam accepts the Torah, then Isaac as the sacrifice must be accepted as well. Otherwise, it is simply cherry picking to secure a misleading agenda.

If you read the Qur’an the Torah was sent first by God then the Bible and the final message was the Qur’an.

(2.) Okay, so why not read those books first? If the Qur’an says those were the first two books, wouldn’t you want to know what they say? But instead, you say they are corrupted. There are two issues with this. First, if they are God’s words, how can they become corrupted? Second, if they do seem to contradict the majority interpretations of the Qur’an, that would mean that either (A.) the Qur’an is false, or (B.) the common interpretations are false. If the Qur’an accepts these books, you cannot claim corruption, since they are accepted as true by the Qur’an of that time. If the Qur’an has never held any corruptions, then the Torah and Gospel are still accepted.

the only thing that islam says is that he was not killed in a cross like Christians claim. Jesus was saved by God and brought it to Him

(3.) You’ve mentioned that Christians “claim” something untrue about Jesus. According to the Qur’an, God made it to appear as if they (the people) crucified Jesus. There are several views on this, only one of which is accepted by Muslims. According to you, God made it appear as if Jesus was killed, the Christians believed it, and then God had to send Muhammad to correct the Christians’ thinking hundreds of years later. That is from your book.

        Surah 4:157 – and for their saying, ‘We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, the Messenger of God’ — yet they did not slay him, neither crucified him, only a likeness of that was shown to them. Those who are at variance concerning him surely are in doubt regarding him; they have no knowledge of him, except the following of surmise; and they slew him not of a certainty — no indeed;

  5. Couldn’t have said it better….Amen

  6. Pretty much in line with every other dumb Christian take.

  7. Holiness is the true way and Christianity isn’t a religion. They were first called Christians at Antioch. Holy Holy Holy be ye Holy not Islamic or annnnnnnnny man made religion…God is coming for 1 church not all religions…these were created outside of the bible and aren’t written.

  8. Smh, how can you claimed that you have studied Islam for about 4 or 5 years when you said that we Muslims worship Arabic God? Arabic God ?? You clearly stated that God doesn’t have an ethnicity and I agreed with it. However, isn’t Jesus came from Jews? You must be confused because Prophet Muhammad SAW is from Arab and you thought we worshipping him? He is a prophet just like Jesus, Abraham, Moses , Adam and etc. We don’t worship Prophets, we worship the one true God and Prophets are just the messengers from God to humankind. Please dont claim that you have studied Islam for many years to make your article looks convincing as the basis of Islam you still didn’t know yet.

    • Why, I just had a conversation claiming with a Muslim claiming all prophets were Arabs. The original language of God and the world is Arabic, and that God is only Arabic (thus only we can use Allah but not Elohim or Yahweh). They even claimed Moses and Jesus were Arabs. So before you claim that I am confused, you might want to get some consistency among the ummah.

  9. If you studied Islam for nearly 4 years and yet in your writing it appears you still knew next to nothing about Islam, I wonder who are your gurus are? Learn Islam from the source, not from your fellow Christians!!!

    • You’ve made assumptions without evidence. But seeing as you are hell bent on defending an illogical point, nothing I say would change your opinion. Which, is all you have, an opinion. I studied all the books and traveled to meet Islamic teachers at various locations within Egypt. So no, “gurus” didn’t teach me anything. Your own people did.

  10. Just a side note, all comments must be approved before they show up. Many people get offended and claim the authors are liars, but that’s all they say, without giving a compelling argument. We don’t show those. However, we still will show comments that, while they may disagree with the article, because they are well-spelled, civil, and compelling

  11. Thank you Ethan Toney.

  12. Its pretty interesting that the mainstream media has changed the way it looks at this recently dont you think? What used to neve be brought up or discussed has changed. Overall though Im looking for a change.

    • And your point? Islam can say a lot of nice things, but look at how kafirs are treated. Look at how Muslim rulers historically have treated kafirs. There are many things that can be said of this video. Posting a link without commenting doesn’t pinpoint your view for me.

  13. I can’t believe how ignorant the author of this blog is. It saddening for he seems like he is so sure of what he says without even conducting research. Sounding smart and providing reason to suit what you think is right doesn’t equate to what is really right.

    • Disprove me then? You can’t. Plain and simple. If you could, you would come citing sources, not simply say you disagree with me and therefore I must be wrong.

  14. Hmm is anyone else having problems with the images on this blog loading?

I’m trying to determine if its a problem on my end or if it’s the blog.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

  15. Wow, surely n obviously the writer of this article IS an utterly Islamophobia. LOL. There are always seem to be an inflated anger n hatred everytime this airhead punk stated about Islam n anything that relates to it. LOL. Whatta complete jerk!!!
    ?

  16. Ethan thanks for your writing it’s quite deep and thought provoking.Keep it up bro!Jesus is the only way to God,no other man could make this bold statement except Jesus.John14:6,7.Most of these religion does not know God,because to know God one has to be know Jesus the only begotten of the Father full of grace(John1:14).Keep it up.Earnestlsy contending for the Faith.Jude3.

  17. Thank you Ethan Toney. It is disturbing that he keeps making references to the Bible. You all those people that seeks things from God but they don’t want to know him

  18. “The first Arab Christians were also called Muslims before Islam stole that away from them” Where in the world did you get this from??? Wrong on so many levels… 1st of all, the very first Christians ever (followers of Christ) were what we call today Arabs or to be more specific modern day Palestinians before Christianity spread throughout the whole Middle East. Christian Arabs and Palestinian Christians specifically are literally the cornerstones of Christianity and were NEVER called muslims. 2nd of all, the whole Middle East was Arabized over the centuries, so that basically anyone who speaks Arabic today is referred to as “Arab”. The majority of people in the Middle East however, are not ethnic Arabs. The people of the Levant for example are not ethnically or genetic Arabs, but today identify as Arabs because they speak Arabic and are culturally “Arabs”. I never heard muslims refer to Allah as an Arabic God either. Yes the Quran is in Arabic because that was the language of Mohammad, but Muslims never claimed that God is Arabic, which is an absurd idea. I agree with a lot of what you wrote but on some points you were off, way off. Please do not insult Christian Arabs and say they were called Muslims. That does not make any sense because Islam did not exist until the 6th century and how could they have been called that when Islam did not even exist back then?! No such thing ever happened. It is Muslims who claim that Jesus and Moses are Muslims because God always intended for Islam to be the religion of all. Christians are so sick of hearing this garbage, so please do not add to it by saying Christian Arabs used to be called muslims, it only adds insult to injuru, other than it is factually wrong!!
