What is a Muhammadan?

How Can We Help?

What is a Muhammadan and should this word be used? First, one must know the definition of a Muhammadan is for who the label should be applied. Many followers of Muhammad’s Islam believe that the word Muhammadan means to worship Muhammad. This is untrue.

Myth: Muhammadan means one who worships Muhammad.

Truth: Muhammadan means one who follows/follows the teachings of Muhammad.

Many, usually unknowingly, tell the lie that the word Muhammadan is a misnomer and means a person that worships Muhammad. This is a lie taught by Islamic scholars and a psychological attack on the minds of their followers. By demanding that all others bow to using Muslim as the proper term for followers of Muhammad in Islam, they are having Christians and Jews say that the followers of Muhammad have the one right God and that they (Christians and Jews) are wrong.

The word Christian does not refer to people that worship the Christ. It refers to people that follow the Messiah and His teachings. To claim Christian means “worshiper of Christ” is a misnomer.

The question that should be asked, however, is whether a conventional (generally believed) Muslim (Muhammadan) worships Muhammad? What is worship? Worship is usually either to a god or human acting in the place of a god. Worship shows reverence and adoration for (a deity or man); honor with religious rites.

“Perfect worship is emulation,”

Elder McConkie (1981)

Do you emulate Muhammad? If yes, then you worship him. Thus, the label Muslim cannot be applied to you because you worship a man and not God alone.

To claim you only worship God/a god that is one as told by Muhammad, and yet at the same time, to emulate Muhammad in his worship to that one god, is not worshipping this god individually, but worshiping how a man supposedly worshiped his god. One could disagree, yet, people emulate Muhammad so much that they will make their entire life even outside religion all about him.

Normally in cults, you’ll hear from a man that holds god-like power. He’ll be able to command and control the thoughts and actions of his followers. He will be their god, yet he will point to another god. He will tell them to listen to his god, and yet his god will only speak through him. If one points that out, he will claim only prophets get the message, and thus he will require that you believe in him as a prophet. This man is, in fact, their god. He will continue saying he is not god and that you must obey god, yet all commandments of god can only be found from him. This is the definition of a cult. This is what Islam began as, after stealing the label Muslim from Christians and Jews.

Christians and Jews were the first Muslims and rightfully so. Even today, if we are to look at Christians, as Christians they follow the teachings of Christ. As Muslims, they emulate Jesus because, God, being a spirit, came in the form of man. That man was Jesus Christ.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Phil 2:5-8
